Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger is bitter and has decided to kill what’s left of his political career to get revenge, he’s investigating former President Donald Trump.
Raffensperger announced on Monday that his office is investigating Trump’s attempts to overturn the state’s election results, including a phone call that he leaked to the Washington Post.
The Secretary’s office claimed that the investigation is “fact-finding and administrative in nature.” Investigators would turn their findings into the Republican-controlled state board of elections, which would be the determining body to decide if Trump should be prosecuted.
“The Secretary of State’s office investigates complaints it receives,” Walter Jones, a spokesman for the office, said in a statement on Monday. “The investigations are fact-finding and administrative in nature. Any further legal efforts will be left to the Attorney General.”
David Worley, is the only Democrat on the state elections board and claim that Trump could be criminally charged.
“Any investigation of a statutory violation is a potential criminal investigation depending on the statute involved,” he said, adding that in the case of Mr. Trump, “The complaint that was received involved a criminal violation.”
The phone called being investigated was “secretly” recording by Raffensperger and then he released it to the Washington Post.
“I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state,” Trump said during the phone call.
In response to the leak Trump’s then attorney Kurt Hilbert said, “We are disappointed that the secretary of state and his staff secretly recorded and released a confidential settlement discussion to settle the two pending lawsuits.”
“While they may think that behavior is appropriate, we do not,” he added. “Consequently, we will not be commenting on settlement discussions.”
Raffensperger has received heavy criticism for not properly investigating allegations of voter fraud during the 2020 Presidential election.
