Don Lemon was on with The View today and actually told Meghan McCain that it’s wrong to believe that homosexuality is a sin because it hurts other people:

Lemon responds to the Vatican’s statement today on homosexuality and same-sex unions by saying:
I respect people’s right to believe in whatever they want to believe in their God, but if you believe in something that hurts another person or that does not give someone the same rights or freedoms – not necessarily under the Constitution because this is under God – I think that that’s wrong.
And I think the Catholic church and many other churches really need to reexamine themselves and their teachings because that is not what God is about. God is not about hindering people or even judging people.
What in the world is Lemon talking about? He sounds like he’s talking about someone he knows little to nothing about, because if he actually knew God, the one who created his very soul, then he wouldn’t be spouting this absolute nonsense.
God is most certainly a lover of souls as the Church pointed out today, but God does not love sin and won’t tolerate it either, at least eventually. Which is why the Bible talks about the final judgement day, which Jesus talks about in Matthew 25, where He will separate the righteous from the unrighteous and cast the latter into the eternal fire.
Also it’s this kind of ungodly arrogance that Lemon displays here, denouncing the church’s belief that homosexuality is a sin because it ‘hurts another person’, that will engender more hatred and oppression of the church, such that some will want to blot it out.
But Lemon isn’t done yet. He’s got some advice for the Church:
So I would say to the Pope and the Vatican and to all Christians or Catholics or whomever, whatever religion you believe about or you happen to belong to out there, go out and meet people and try to understand people. And do what the Bible and Jesus actually said – if you believe in Jesus – and that is to love your fellow man and judge not lest ye be not judged.
I about died laughing when Lemon botched “judge not lest ye be NOT judged”. That doesn’t even make sense, but him botching it does because he’s clearly not a Christian.
But to his actual point, I would say that Lemon would rather be judged by men than by God. Because with men, or rather the church, Lemon has the opportunity to repent and change the trajectory of his life, running back to God like the prodigal son. If he waits until the final judgement, it will likely be too late for him to make any such change.
