President Joe Biden is becoming quite the national embarrassment, to say the least.
It has been over 50 days, and the president of the United States still has not done a solo press conference with the media. Talk about poor timing, with an exploding border crisis situation that they’re still calling a “challenge,” Americans deserve to hear from the leader of the country, even if that person is a frail, Dementia-ridden, awkward old man.
According to the Washington Examiner, Biden’s primetime speech on Thursday evening will focus on the COVID-19 pandemic, which is now pretty much only an issue that Democrats seem to think is a kitchen table issue for Americans.
“The president plans to highlight the sacrifices people have endured during the last twelve months, the lives altered by the continued health and economic crises, and the more than half a million lives lost, according to a senior White House official. Biden will also tout the scale of the response, which he has called a “war effort,” while laying out the next steps in his pandemic response,” the Examiner’s report revealed.
Biden will also reportedly “level with the American people about what is still required to defeat the virus and provide a hopeful vision of what is possible if we all come together,” the report added.
So, in other words — and I’ll take anyone who wants to bet against me — tonight, Biden will repeatedly urge you to wear a mask (or two, or three) and say the word “social distancing” at least a dozen times.
Biden never had a plan, like he said he did, to do anything different with COVID-19 than former President Donald Trump did. It was all a hoax to grab as many extra sheep voters as he possibly could and, unfortunately, it worked.
The only thing Biden needs to be able to prove tonight is that, even with a teleprompter in front of him, is that he can string together enough coherent sentences to not make headlines tomorrow about how bad he screwed up, once again.
Adding to the likely-humiliating primetime speech he’ll give on Thursday night is the next move, which involves a “tour” with Vice President Kamala Harris in which they’ll apparently travel around and tout the benefits of his $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan.”
The effort will be known as the “Help is Here Tour,” which is hilarious on so many levels, but it will essentially entail, according to reports, Biden’s surrogates and various inner circle people making local television appearances in which they talk about the relief package and what it means for a given community.
Only time will tell if Biden’s able to pull off a speech that’s anywhere near coherent, but I think most would agree that COVID-19 isn’t the issue it once was and that there are probably more pressing issues to focus on at hand.
