‘He absolutely should be charged with premeditated murder’
Despite Waters’s comments, Trump called for peace before and following the riots
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters said that she believes Donald Trump should be charged with “premeditated murder” for the riots at the Capitol building on Jan. 6.
Waters told MSNBC:
“He absolutely should be charged with premeditated murder because of the lives that were lost for this invasion with his insurrection.”
“For the President of the United States to sit and watch the invasion and the insurrection and not say a word because he knew he had absolutely initiated it – and as some of them said, ‘he invited us to come.”
“We’re here at the invitation of the President of the United States.”
Despite Waters’ comments, Trump called for peace before and following the riots, and nothing about what he said suggested inciting violence.
Waters has been calling for Trump to be impeached for most of his presidency
Waters voted to impeach Trump for “inciting an insurrection” last month.
Among those who voted were 10 Republicans, including Liz Cheney.

The Los Angeles-area congresswoman said:
“Because I took on this president early, I called for his impeachment early; I have been threatened time and time again.”
Last month, Waters warned she is continuing investigations into Trump’s finances, despite no longer being in office
She then claimed rioters were instructed by Trump on the Jan. 6 rallies, which questioned the Electoral College results.
“And even there’s information that some of the planning came out of individuals working in his campaign,” she told MSNBC.
“We have to fight as hard as we can to see to it that there’s some justice.”

During an interview on MSNBC’s “Live,” Waters said, “we have not stopped.”
“We have some subpoenas that we have issued recently.”
“We will continue our work.”
“I’m very pleased that I think we’re going to have excellent cooperation from Deutsche Bank, who have made their own decisions about not dealing with him anymore as many financial institutions have.”
