Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks won her district in Iowa by six votes, what they say is the closest federal election in history. Her slim victory was certified and she was sworn in on January 3rd and has been in Congress since.
But now Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats are considering booting Miller-Meeks from Congress to overturn the election:

The Democrat who lost the election, Rita Hart, has appealed to the House instead of continuing her fight in the courts. And now Democrats are considering ejecting the certified, sworn-in Republican, in favor of the clearly sore loser Hart:
In November, Iowa’s election officials certified Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ defeat of Hart — 196,964 to 196,958 — the closest federal race in 2020.
But Hart’s campaign has argued that if 22 other legally cast ballots are counted, she would win the race by nine votes rather than lose it by six. (The campaign has released a couple of voter testimonies claiming that their ballots were improperly tossed because of issues with the envelopes.) And since the Constitution makes the House the ultimate “judge” of its own elections, Hart has made an unusual petition to investigate her claims and seat her instead.
Republicans are outraged that she’s taken her case to a friendly audience in the Democratic-led House, rather than to the courts, and say it’s a brazen attempt by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to pad her razor-thin majority with an extra seat.
“They were complaining because Republicans wouldn’t tell people that Biden won the election on November 4, the day after the election, and now they’re playing this game? It just doesn’t add up,” said Chuck Grassley, the state’s long-serving GOP senator.
But Democrats say there’s nothing untoward about Hart using a process laid out by federal law giving her a chance to make her case before Congress.
“We can’t be concerned about optics,” said North Carolina Rep. G.K. Butterfield, who sits on the House panel considering the challenge. “We’ve got to review the evidence and see where it leads us.”
Suddenly the optics of overturning a certified election, one where the votes have been counted and recounted by state officials, don’t matter to Democrats. All they care about is winning and they don’t care if they have to use tyranny to do it.
And of course, they are the very same Democrats who screamed at Trump and Republicans for daring to contest the presidential election, claiming Trump was trying to undermine the electoral system.
NBC News writes:
Ultimately, the House has control over who it decides to seat, so it will be up to the Democratic-controlled body as to whether to investigate and ultimately decide who should be seated. One high-profile example of the process happened in 1984, when the House conducted a recount that ultimately overturned the results in Indiana’s 8th Congressional District.
What’s also amazing about all of this is that this same media who decried Trump for contesting the November election, they write about this brazen attempt by Democrats to overturn an election as if it’s just normal and within the rights of Democrats to do this. The might note that it has political risk, but they don’t demonize or scandalize this in the same way they did with president Trump.
Just to point out the blatantly obvious, there’s no way the media would ever let Republicans get away with doing this to a Democrat seat if the roles were reversed.
Here’s some reaction:
Yes, the “optics” of Democrats unseating a lawfully elected member of Congress are terrible. https://t.co/XWdAJvR5XK

Democrats actively trying to overturn an election outcome without any real justification. Sorry, but having a close margin doesn’t change the rules. The election is over and the winner has been certified. Stop undermining our electoral system. https://t.co/Q483ywc7Ke

this is bad actually.
results are results, whether we like it or not. And imagine the horrible precedent this sets, if Republicans were to take back the House in 2022 https://t.co/6iRmwf4S9V
