Progressive Democrats vented on Twitter after Bernie Sander’s efforts to waive a procedural objection to adding $15/hr minimum wage to the latest spending bill failed. 7 Democrat Senators and 1 Independent Senator sided with all 50 Republican Senators.
Here are some of their tweets.
There is not one state in our country where you can make ends meet on the current federal minimum wage. Not one! How quickly would Congress raise the minimum wage if they were forced to live on $7.25 an hour? Outrageous.

It is despicable and unacceptable that there is not unanimous support among Democrats in Congress for a $15 minimum wage.

It’s abysmal that the minimum wage is $7.25/hour. It’s even more abysmal that we can’t find 60 Senators who agree with that sentiment.

We’re in one of those rare periods when Democrats control the presidency, House, and Senate. So there’s no reason to compromise on a $15 minimum wage, or $1400 survival checks, or abolishing the filibuster. Why are we negotiating with ourselves?

It’s even more abysmal that we can’t find 50 Senators plus a @VP with the integrity to overrule an unelected parliamentarian and deliver a minimum wage raise that would lift half of Black Americans out of poverty. #fightfor15 https://t.co/bfP6l6EGRH

Again, Congresspeople who oppose a $15/hr minimum wage should have their federal paycheck capped at $14/hr.
