Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney suggested the party should shun controversial lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene.
“I think we should have nothing to do with Marjorie Taylor Greene and think we should repudiate the things she said and move away from her,” Romney said to reporters.
Romney was not the only prominent member of the GOP to level harsh criticism on Taylor Green, Senator Mitch McConnell called Greene’s embrace of conspiracy theory a “cancer” to the party and country.
Asked to comment on McConnell’s characterization, Romney said the party should “separate ourselves from the people in the wacky weeds.”
He added “If we don’t, then our opposition tries to brand us with their image and with their point of view, which has been detrimental to any party that doesn’t do that.”
Romney earlier connected Greene with Trump as both liars, tweeting “Lies of a feather flock together: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s nonsense and the “big lie” of a stolen election.”
