Hammer thrower Gwen Berry turned away from the American flag while the national anthem played at the US Olympic trials.
Berry proceeded to drape her “Activist Athlete” T-shirt on the front over her head. “I feel like it was a setup,” Berry explained “… It was real disrespectful. I know they did that on purpose, but it’ll be all right. I see what’s up,” she added.
Dinesh D’Souza took issue with Berry’s actions, tweeting “We’re going to see more of this. It’s going to make patriotic Americans cheer for foreign competitors and against the anti-American Americans.”

The move caused debate with some supporting her actions and other disagreeing with it.
Here are some of the comments replying to Dinesh’s tweet.
Simple answer to this, if she does not want to properly represent her team and country, kick her off the team and give it to someone who does, people like this need to seriously reevaluate their ideas and motives.

The whole point of the olympics is to represent your country with honor, if you can’t do that then you shouldn’t compete. It’s not about personal glory, this is just being self-centered. If you have issues then there is a time and place for that, but not here.

I won’t be watching the Olympics any longer. Same with NFL, NBA, and anyone other athletic competition where the emphasis is no longer the sport.

This was not the first time Berry used her platform as an athlete to protest. In 2019, she raised her fist at the end of the national anthem at the Pan Am Games..

So uneducated to turn away from the flag that gave her her freedom.

“I feel like it was a setup”
Yes, the whole track meet was waiting for you, a hammer thrower, to be third place on the podium, just in time to play the anthem, to set you up.
Talk about a narcissist. Jeez.

If they were true to themselves they would refuse to represent the USA.
But they don’t. Hence the hypocrisy.

Berry talked about being an activist athlete earlier this month.
