Senator Tim Scott was asked on Fox News this afternoon about voting to impeach Trump, given that he was one of the 45 who voted with Rand Paul on impeachment being unconstitutional. And his answer was perfect:
“[Presidnet Trump] is simply not guilty…The Democrats should put the blame where it stands, where it should be. And it does not, it does not have to do with the president who said ‘go peacefully to protest.’” – @SenatorTimScott on the Democrats’ impeachment. pic.twitter.com/u99takN2xV

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Scott led with “Well John the president is simply not guilty”. Scott could have easily couched his defense of Trump in the unconstitutionality of the phony impeachment, but instead he got right to the heart of the matter. Trump isn’t guilty. Boom.
But then he went further, explaining how he completely understands the severity of the riot because he was there in the chamber taking off his suit coat and tie, getting ready to defend himself and fight the rioters if he was forced into that situation. His emphasizes that he understands what went down that day “100%” and he still doesn’t blame President Trump nor the peaceful protesters on the law of the Capitol. Just the rioters.
I’m gonna say ‘boom’ again because his answer makes me that happy.
