After President Biden appeared with Norah McDonald and said he did not think former President Trump should receive intel briefings, speculation came quick that Biden may order Trump to be denied any classified information.
However, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki clarified that Biden was merely “expressing his concern” and the decision would not come from him but his intelligence team.
Psaki told Wapo “the president was expressing his concern about former president Trump receiving access to sensitive intelligence, but he also has deep trust in his own intelligence team to make a determination about how to provide intelligence information if at any point the former president Trump requests a briefing”
Appearing with Norah McDonald on CBS Evening News, President Biden was asked if he though Trump should receive intel breifings.
Biden responded “I think not” to which McDonald asked Biden “why not?”
“Because of his erratic behavior,” Biden replied “unrelated to the insurrection.”
“I’d rather not speculate out loud,” Biden also added “I just think that there is no need for him to have the intelligence briefings. What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”
